GLOBAL AFRICAN CHILD HOLISTIC MISSIONS

G.A.C.H.O.M.

PROJECT TITLE: Winning Youth For Christ
Prosposal for an orphange (Christian Youth Training Center) for disadvantaged and deprived rural youth within Owensgrove District, Grand Bassa County, Monrovia, Liberia.

Submited to: Bro. Ken Davis and all Churches and Invidiuals, U.S.A.

September 2004

Executive Summary
Statistics of the establishment of the Lord’s church shows in Liberia that very little has been done to take the church to the rural areas due to various reasons among which are lack of support, not many believers are turned in missionary work, etc. Example is from Harbel to Buchanan, which is approximately; 126 miles apart have no New Testament Church.

Second to that is there is not one Christian training center beside the few denomination churches. Worse of all the fourteen years of civil war created lot more conditions by leaving thousands of orphaned, diable, street children and child soldiers with little or no former educational skills to make life for themselves with the lack of Christian virtue and spiritual guidance.

Matt. 28:19-20. Therefore, our goal is that youth are trained in mission work, church is established in all rural Liberia, lost souls are won to Christ.

To achieve this goal, four objectives have been set. They are:

    • Construct an orphanage/youth training center with a chapel.
    • Recruit and train 60 youth in evangelism/Christian discipline and employable skills.
    • Empower the trained 60 and send each out to establish the church and
    • Organize a week seminar at the end of every six months for the 60 sent out. This will be done for the first three years until established.

Activities of the project will include construction of the chapel and orphange, recruitment of training staff in Christian discipline (the Bible) and various skills training.

The output of the project are a constructed orphanage, youth trained in Chritian discipline and emplyable skills and the church planted in various towns.

Donors, Board of Directors, Project Directors and Project Staff of ACHM will be responsible for monitoring and supervising the project at various levels of its implementation.

The establishment of the orphanage/youth training center, education support funds, grants and product made per student, employable skills, implementation and evaluation othe the project all contribute to the chances of sustainability.

Background to the Organization
African Child Holistic Missions (ACHM) is a non-government, non-sectional organization established as a Christian organization in 2004. Our mission is to propagate the gospel of Christ, provide academic and vocational/technical training for disadvantaged youth.

The vision of ACHM is child centred, which promotes and enhances Christian discipline and training for development of young Christian orphans, disabled, street children who are destitute and abandoned in the Owensgrove District and its environment to win lost souls.

Achievements To Date
ACHM has trained and won 15 (fifteen) youth to Christ in the Buduburam camp.

Problem Statement
The problem of war, poverty and lack of Christian discipline couple with the lack of skills and the absence of the Lord’s church with the Owensgrove District are at alarming proportions in Liberia. The major causes of the phenomenon are the lack of Christ in the lives of the inhabitant, lack of skills, opportunites and education which are the results of the 14 years of civil war. Women who have lost their husbands in the war have no skill or foraml education with no source of income generation and the lack of the knowledge of God engaged into sex selling, promiscuity to sustain them and their children in terms of health, feeding and education.

The social situation of the youth is quite alarming: there is a high rate of teenage pregnancy, abortion and school dropouts. There are no alternative training facilities or Christian training centers with Christian guidance available to them.

Most of the youth become agents of instability by politicians due to lack of knowledge of God, social support systems like - education, skill acquistion and Christian education. Lack of guidance principles froce them into anti-social behaviors, i.e. armed robbery and drug abuse.
